External Relationship Manager – Asset Finance – Tech assets – Field based but 2 days per week in London

James George Recruitment have partnered with a well-established, international provider of equipment and vendor finance, operating across multiple markets and sectors worldwide.

We are seeking an experienced External Relationship Manager to develop and manage strong relationships with vendor, dealer, reseller and broker partners. The role is focused on delivering best-in-class programme support while driving sustainable growth, profitability and market presence.

This is a field-based role involving regular travel and close collaboration with both external partners and internal teams. You will be required to be at a key Client’s office in the City twice per week so candidates based in South East England would be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with introducers and customers through regular face-to-face engagement.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for partners within the indirect channel.
  • Proactively follow up on leads, discuss funding requirements, negotiate pricing and close transactions.
  • Attend industry events and conferences to strengthen relationships and stay informed on market trends.

Business Development:

  • Promote the organisation’s unique value proposition and added-value finance solutions.
  • Identify and secure new opportunities in line with strategic objectives and risk appetite.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service while maximising new business volumes and profitability.
  • Grow share of wallet with both existing and new partners.
  • Deliver sales presentations and training sessions to partner sales teams nationwide.
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager and wider team to support and deliver sales strategy.

Credit Assessment & Risk Management:

  • Assess customer creditworthiness and prepare high-quality credit proposals.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with internal credit policies, procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Complete partner reviews accurately and on time.
  • Support portfolio and partner application renewals where required.

Deal Structuring & Negotiation:

  • Structure commercially sound deals that meet both client and business needs.
  • Propose alternative solutions and mitigants where required to reach acceptable outcomes.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients.
  • Ensure accurate, timely completion of all documentation in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with internal and external legal teams as necessary.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Monitor introducer performance, including proposal quality, acceptance and conversion rates.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline and sales reporting.
  • Provide constructive feedback to partners to improve performance and outcomes.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with internal teams including sales, credit, legal, compliance and operations.
  • Contribute to internal sales meetings by sharing insights and best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience.

Skills, Experience & Attributes:

  • Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of asset finance and leasing, including regulations and market trends.
  • Sales Experience: Proven track record in business development within asset finance or leasing.
  • Commercial & Analytical Skills: Ability to assess risk, identify opportunities and structure viable deals.
  • Communication Skills: Confident, professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Organisation: Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Relationship Management: High emotional intelligence with a collaborative, adaptable and customer-focused approach
