New Leaf Search is collaborating with a global captive vehicle finance provider offering tailored funding, leasing and insurance products in its search for a Financial Controller.

Location: UK, Midlands (Office-Based).

The Role

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to lead the Accounting and Tax function across the UK and Ireland for a global captive financial services organisation.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for delivering best-in-class financial control, statutory reporting, tax compliance and governance, while driving transformation, automation and continuous improvement across the finance function. As the recognised deputy to the CFO, this role offers significant strategic exposure and a clear succession opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Accounting and Tax function across the UK and Ireland
• Deliver accurate statutory, regulatory and group financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, local GAAP and Group standards
• Own period-end close, balance sheet integrity and financial control processes
• Lead corporate tax, VAT and compliance activities
• Manage external audits and maintain a strong internal control environment
• Partner with Capital Markets and Business Control teams to optimise funding, cash flow and financial performance
• Drive finance transformation through process improvement, automation and technology
• Develop and lead a high-performing finance team through coaching and succession planning
• Champion the adoption of Power BI, Power Automate and other digital reporting solutions
• Promote a proactive “no surprises” culture across the finance function

Candidate Profile:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a comparable senior finance leadership role
• Strong background in financial control, statutory reporting, group reporting and balance sheet management
• Excellent knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP and UK tax compliance
• Experience within captive financial services, asset finance, leasing or commercial vehicle finance highly desirable
• Strong understanding of corporate tax, VAT and financial governance
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing finance teams
• Commercially minded with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Passion for continuous improvement, automation and finance transformation

We strongly favour applicants with proven, relevant experience in Financial Services, particularly in Asset Finance and Leasing. Relevant IN-COUNTRY experience is required; applications without it will not be considered.
