The Kintore-based general haulage business has added the flagship DAF model to its 30-strong fleet, with the truck replacing an older vehicle and operating on long-distance tramping work across the UK. The deal also includes a full manufacturer repair and maintenance (R&M) contract, providing the operator with fixed monthly running costs and reducing the risk of unexpected repair bills while vehicles are working away from base. Carole Mann, Director at W&H Leslie (Aberdeen), said: “It’s our first deal with Asset Alliance Group and we’re very pleased with the truck. They sorted out the smart livery for us and were attentive throughout. We used them for finance too, which went very smoothly – all we really had to do was arrange for one of our drivers to collect it.” She said the inclusion of a comprehensive R&M package was an important consideration for the business, whose vehicles regularly operate throughout the UK. “For us we have a simple monthly payment to make, and we don’t have to worry about recovery if a truck’s stranded south of the border. The dealer will cover that and get it back on the road, which leaves us to concentrate on the job at hand – ensuring customers’ goods get delivered,” she added. Designed to maximise driver comfort on extended journeys, the DAF XG+ features full air suspension, alloy wheels, air horns and a light bar externally, while the cab includes a premium sound system, electric relax bed, microwave, fridge and full leather interior. The truck will initially undertake nationwide haulage work transporting a wide range of freight before eventually moving onto local operations later in its life. At that stage it will be maintained by W&H Leslie’s in-house workshop before being sold or traded in. The transaction was facilitated by Asset Alliance Group Sales Manager John Scott.
