Community Join the Coach Core Sports Day and support the next generation of young talent Published: 16th July 2026 Share The Coach Core Foundation, charity partner of The Leasing Foundation, is inviting businesses from across the asset, auto, equipment and receivables finance sectors to swap the boardroom for the playing field this September in support of young people facing barriers to employment. Taking place on Thursday 17 September at Rosslyn Park FC in London, the annual Coach Core Sports Day combines team building, networking and a healthy dose of friendly competition, while raising vital funds for sports coaching apprenticeships. Running from 1.30pm to 4.00pm, the event brings together teams from across the City, Coach Core apprentices and celebrity ambassadors for an afternoon inspired by the traditional school sports day. Teams of eight will compete in a series of fun and inclusive challenges where enthusiasm and teamwork matter far more than sporting ability. The event has become a popular fixture for organisations looking to strengthen relationships with colleagues, clients and business partners in a relaxed environment while making a tangible social impact. Coach Core works with 16 to 24-year-olds facing systemic barriers to employment, using sports coaching apprenticeships to help young people develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to build successful careers. Every team entering the Sports Day directly supports these apprenticeship programmes, helping more young people gain meaningful employment opportunities. Gary Laybourne, Co-Founder and CEO of the Coach Core Foundation, said: “Back for its fourth year, our Sports Day is one of the absolute highlights of the Coach Core year as the team and our young people really love meeting and engaging with our amazing supporters on such a fun but competitive afternoon. “If you’re interested in a team building session, where you’ll meet other key firms from across the City, then this is the event for you and all funds raised will go to supporting more disadvantaged young people into employment via our sports apprenticeships.” The event has previously attracted strong support from companies across the asset finance industry, with funders and brokers taking part in a memorable afternoon of competition and networking. Last year’s event saw teams battle it out in classic school sports day events, demonstrating that success was measured as much by team spirit as athletic ability. Team entry costs £1,750 (including VAT) for eight participants, with food and refreshments included throughout the afternoon. Organisations booking before the end of July can also take advantage of a 10% early booking discount, as well as receiving a signed Polaroid team photograph from Coach Core ambassador and former England rugby international Heather Fisher. Many participating businesses are also turning the event into a full team away day, using nearby venues to meet with colleagues or clients before heading to Rosslyn Park for the afternoon’s activities. For organisations looking to combine employee engagement, client networking and meaningful social impact, the Coach Core Sports Day offers a unique opportunity to support a charity that continues to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people across the UK.
