Simply Cup 2027 set to bring asset finance community together

The Simply Cup will return to Powerleague Battersea on Thursday, 7th January 2027, bringing the asset finance, leasing and specialist lending community together once again for a day of football, fundraising and friendly competition in support of Cancer Research UK.

The annual 5-a-side tournament, organised by Simply Asset Finance, has become a popular fixture in the industry calendar, combining competition on the pitch with a shared commitment to raising money for cancer research.

With capacity for 35 teams in 2027, demand is strong, with 22 teams already confirmed for the tournament.

Building on a record fundraising year

The 2027 event, headline sponsored by Acquis, follows another successful Simply Cup earlier this year, which raised an impressive £45,121.10 for Cancer Research UK.

LGB & Co. Limited were crowned Simply Cup 2026 champions, while WSC Finance Ltd took the top spot in the inaugural Giving League, which added a new fundraising competition alongside the action on the pitch.

The amount raised represented a significant increase on the 2025 tournament, which generated £26,457.75 for Cancer Research UK, demonstrating the growing support for the event across the asset finance community.

Giving League returns for 2027

Following its introduction at the last tournament, the Giving League will return in 2027, giving every participating team an opportunity to compete off the pitch as well as on it.

Each team will receive its own fundraising page, which can be shared with colleagues, clients, friends and family to generate donations for Cancer Research UK ahead of the tournament.

The team raising the most money will be crowned the 2027 Giving League Champions on event day. Each player in the winning team – up to seven people – will receive a £100 voucher of their choice.

The initiative is designed to put fundraising at the heart of the Simply Cup and encourage some friendly competition between teams while increasing the overall contribution made to Cancer Research UK. Full information on how it works can be found here.

Football, fundraising and friendly competition

Alongside the 5-a-side tournament and Giving League, the Crossbar Challenge will return, with entry for up to seven players per team included in the tournament entry fee.

There will also be a selection of raffle prizes available on the day, providing further opportunities to raise funds.

The Simply Cup has grown into an opportunity for professionals from across the industry to start the year by reconnecting with colleagues and competitors while supporting a common cause.

With 22 of the available 35 team places already confirmed, businesses interested in taking part are encouraged to secure their place early.
