Intake Transport has strengthened its fleet with the addition of seven new DAF tractor units supplied by Asset Alliance Group.

The delivery comprises six DAF XG 530 tractor units with tag axles and one heavy haulage DAF XG+ 530 with a twin-wheel tag axle configured for 80-tonne operations. The vehicles have been supplied on a contract hire agreement that includes the manufacturer’s repair and maintenance package, helping maximise vehicle uptime and reduce operational risk.

The new trucks will support Intake Transport’s work across the structural steelwork, fabrication and steel manufacturing sectors, while also strengthening the company’s growing heavy haulage capabilities.

Jamie Pierce, Director at Intake Transport, said: “Since acquiring the business in 2024, we have focused heavily on investing in both our fleet and our people. The latest additions demonstrate our ambition to provide customers with modern, reliable vehicles whilst ensuring our drivers have the very best equipment available to carry out their work safely and efficiently.

“We believe investing in our people and the quality of the equipment they operate is fundamental to delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the continued growth of the business.”

The latest order brings the total number of new DAF tractor units supplied to Intake Transport by Asset Alliance Group to 12 since brothers Jamie and Fraser Pierce acquired the business.

The addition of the DAF XG+ expands the company’s ability to undertake more complex heavy haulage operations across the UK. Following an initial trial arranged by Asset Alliance Group, the DAF flagship models were selected for their driver comfort, reliability and operational performance and now form a key part of Intake Transport’s fleet renewal strategy.

Commenting on the partnership, Jamie Pierce added: “Asset Alliance Group has demonstrated a strong understanding of our business and operational requirements throughout our relationship. The service provided, together with a competitive and flexible funding solution, has made them a valued partner in supporting our ongoing fleet investment programme.”

Reliability remains a key priority for Intake Transport, whose vehicles regularly operate across the UK and Ireland, often spending up to six days away from base. The contract hire agreement allows the company to maintain a modern fleet while benefiting from DAF’s nationwide dealer network for servicing and maintenance.

The deal was arranged by Asset Alliance Group Area Sales Manager John Scott, with vehicle livery completed by Write on Signs in Perth.

Intake Transport currently operates a fleet of 15 tractor units and around 100 specialist trailers, including flat trailers, triple extenders, semi-low loaders and low loaders. The new vehicles will operate from the company’s Scunthorpe and Glasgow depots, supporting customers across the UK.
