Supporting Teens Unite at the AFC UK Conference with Propel Finance

Share

This year, Asset Finance Connect is proud to shine a spotlight on an extraordinary charity making a life-changing difference to young people affected by cancer. Teens Unite – a UK charity dedicated to supporting teenagers and young adults aged 13 to 24 living with and beyond cancer – will be the chosen charity at the AFC UK Autumn Conference 2025.

With the support of Propel Finance, a committed partner and supporter of Teens Unite, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the charity’s mission while helping raise vital funds.

About Teens Unite

Every year, around 2,500 teenagers and young adults in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. For every young person Teens Unite currently supports, nine more are still waiting.

Teens Unite exists to ensure no young person faces cancer alone. Their mission focuses on rebuilding confidence, connection, and purpose for young people whose lives have been disrupted by diagnosis and treatment. Their support includes:

  • Regular activities and events: Free online and in-person activities bring young people together with peers who genuinely understand what they’re going through – helping them reconnect with life and build lasting friendships.
  • Residential stays: Residential stays where young people from across the UK come together for a 3–5-night break with others in a similar situation, and take part in a range of activities each day.
Teens Unite has recently acquired a site in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, which will become the first retreat in England for young people diagnosed with cancer. Once the project is complete, it will be a base for Teens Unite to host all its residential stays.
  • Parent and sibling support: Cancer doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed, but those closest to them. Teens Unite extends its support to the whole family by hosting dedicated parent and sibling events, both in-person and digitally, to ensure they also have a support network that understands what they’re going through.

Through its growing community and long-term services, Teens Unite empowers young people to reach their potential, live life to the full, and thrive beyond cancer.

Propel Finance: championing Teens Unite in 2025

Propel Finance has selected Teens Unite Fighting Cancer as one of its two corporate charities of the year (alongside local charity Cyfannol Women’s Aid). Their support holds personal significance, with internal links to the cause, and forms a key part of their CSR mission.

At the AFC UK Autumn Conference 2025, Propel will be leading on-the-ground fundraising efforts, including a charity raffle and a darts challenge, aimed at raising £5,000 on the day. These funds will then be submitted to the Big Give Match-Funded Campaign, doubling the total to £10,000, enough to fully fund support for four young people in 2026.

Julie Warren, Marketing and Partnerships Director at Propel Finance, said: “Propel Finance is incredibly proud to support Teens Unite Fighting Cancer as one of our chosen charities.

“Partnering with them at the Asset Finance Connect UK Autumn Conference and the Pre-Conference drinks event gives us a meaningful opportunity to contribute through donations generated via prize raffle sales and a special darts-themed fundraiser. We’re honoured to play a part in helping further Teens Unite’s remarkable work for young people facing cancer and to champion a cause that means so much to us.”

Fundraising activities at the AFC UK Autumn Conference 2025

Attendees at both the Pre-Conference Drinks Evening and the main Conference Day can get involved, have fun, and make a real impact.

  • Charity raffle – £10 per ticket: Propel will be selling raffle tickets throughout both events (card payments welcome – no cash needed). Prizes include a wide selection of premium items generously donated by partners and sponsors.
  • Darts challenge with Keith Deller: Take on darts legend and former world champion Keith Deller for the chance to win a signed Keith Deller shirt, a set of darts, and a signed Keith Deller autobiography. Entry is £10, which also includes a free selfie with Keith. Joining Keith on the day will be world-famous darts referee Russ Bray (“The Voice”).

Raffle transactions will be processed by Propel via their own charity account; and every pound raised will be transferred to Teens Unite during the Big Give Match-Funded Campaign (from 2nd to 9th December). This means that £5,000 raised becomes £10,000 delivered directly to support young people with cancer.

Why your support matters

For many young people, the biggest challenges of cancer begin after treatment ends. Isolation, anxiety, the loss of friendships, and a disrupted sense of identity are common.

Teens Unite helps close that gap by providing opportunities to learn new skills, regain confidence, find friendship, enjoy new experiences, and take the next steps in living a life outside of their diagnosis.

Alex Cousins, Teens Unite Partnerships Manager, said: “Through our charity partnership with Propel Finance, Teens Unite is delighted to be the supported charity at the Asset Finance Connect UK Conference this November.

“Being part of such a high-profile event provides an invaluable platform to drive vital fundraising and raise awareness of our work, helping us reach even more young people who need us. A huge thank you to Propel Finance and the Asset Finance Connect Conference for this wonderful opportunity.”

Conference attendees will have the chance to speak directly with representatives from both Teens Unite and Propel Finance to learn more about the charity’s work, its ambitious plans for the future, and how businesses can get involved.

By participating in the raffle, taking on the darts challenge, or simply spreading the word, you can help ensure that more young people facing cancer get the support they desperately need and deserve.

With every donation doubled, this year’s AFC UK Autumn Conference is not just an industry event, but a chance to create twice the impact.

Double the donation. Double the difference.

Meet George. George, was diagnosed with a brain tumour at just 20 years old.

George had only just started university when he received the devastating news. What should have been an exciting new chapter, full of new friendships and experiences, and the chance to fulfil his dreams and aspirations, was shattered overnight.

Thanks to the support of Teens Unite, George hasn’t had to face the impact of his diagnosis alone. He’s been supported throughout his diagnosis, and taken part in our activities where he’s met others who understand what he’s going through and discovered that life can still be full of possibility, without cancer holding him back.

Today, thanks to the confidence and independence he’s gained through Teens Unite, George is fulfilling his dream and has recently moved to China, where he is now working as an English teacher – something he never thought would still be possible when he received his diagnosis.

But sadly, not every young person has access to this same support. In the past year alone, we’ve seen a 48% increase in demand for our services. For every young person we currently support, nine more are still waiting.

It costs £2,600 to support one young person for a full year – covering their registration, six digital sessions, and four in-person activities where they can connect, learn, and rebuild their confidence.

During the match-funding campaign, every £2,600 donated becomes £5,200 – transforming two lives instead of one. Together, we can ensure more young people like George have access to the vital support they deserve.

To close, it’s a real privilege to share George’s video ,where he speaks about his journey and the role Teens Unite has played in his life.
