Europcar Mobility Group Germany has appointed Eva Büchel as its new Director Operations, effective 1 May 2026.

In her new role, Büchel will oversee operational activities across all passenger car and van & truck locations throughout Germany. She will be responsible for further strengthening operational performance, service quality and customer experience across the company’s nationwide network of approximately 300 Europcar locations.

Büchel brings more than 13 years of experience in the mobility and travel sectors, alongside extensive expertise in managing car rental operations and service standards.

After completing training as a travel agent and studying economics, she gained leadership experience in the hotel and marketing industries before moving into the vehicle rental sector in 2013. Most recently, she served as Executive Regional Director, with a particular focus on operational management and the development of quality and service standards.

Michael Knippel, Managing Director of Europcar Mobility Group Germany, said Büchel’s industry experience and customer-focused leadership would support the company’s operational development.

“Eva Büchel combines industry expertise, strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of our customers,” Knippel said.

“With her experience, she will help further develop our operational structures and sustainably strengthen our service quality. I am very pleased to welcome her as a new member of the management team in Germany.”

Knippel also thanked outgoing executive Michael Krikken for his contribution to the business.

“At the same time, I would like to sincerely thank Michael Krikken for the excellent collaboration and his commitment over recent years. I wish him all the very best for his personal and professional future,” he added.

Büchel said her focus would be on maintaining close connections with teams, customers and day-to-day station operations.

“With this new position, I am taking responsibility for around 300 Europcar locations across Germany,” she said. “For me, that means staying close to the teams, the customers and the daily business operations. That is exactly what I am looking forward to.”

She added: “What matters is everyday life at the stations, with clear processes, reliable service and suitable offers. We will continue improving these operations and make renting even simpler, faster and more reliable.”
