Crédit Agricole Auto Bank has announced the appointment of François Edouard Drion as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 February 2027.

Drion, currently Managing Director and CEO of Agos, Crédit Agricole Personal Finance & Mobility’s (CAPFM) Italian subsidiary, succeeds Giacomo Carelli, who will become Global Head of Automotive, Mobility, Insurance and Services at CAPFM.

The internal leadership transition is intended to strengthen CA Auto Bank’s position in the European financing and mobility market, with a continued focus on profitable growth, innovation and sustainability.

Drion brings extensive international banking experience, having held senior leadership positions across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

He joined Crédit Agricole in 2008 as CEO of Crédit Agricole Serbia before becoming CEO of Crédit Agricole Egypt in 2011. In 2017, he was appointed Head of International Retail Banking at Crédit Agricole S.A., a position that also involved serving on the Board of Directors of Crédit Agricole Italia.

He joined CAPFM in January 2022 as Managing Director and CEO of Agos.

Before joining Crédit Agricole, Drion spent 18 years at BNP Paribas, including roles as Head of Retail Banking for the Middle East and CEO of BNP Paribas in Algeria.

Commenting on his appointment, Drion said: “I am honoured to take on this role, which allows me to bring my experience in bank management, gained in international markets and lately in Italy with Agos.

“My goal now is to further develop CA Auto Bank’s positioning in Europe by working in synergy with our partners, supporting sales networks and end customers through effective financial and mobility solutions, in line with the Crédit Agricole’s vocation for innovation and sustainability.”

Giacomo Carelli’s move to CAPFM follows a period of significant transformation for CA Auto Bank and its predecessor businesses.

During his leadership, FGA Capital evolved into FCA Bank as a pan-European bank in 2015, Leasys expanded across Europe, and CA Auto Bank and mobility company Drivalia were established in 2023.

Stéphane Priami, Deputy General Manager of Crédit Agricole S.A., responsible for International Banking and Services, and Chairman of CA Auto Bank, thanked Carelli for his contribution and welcomed Drion’s appointment.

“I wish François Edouard Drion great success; his leadership will be fundamental in guiding the next phases of the Bank’s growth and pursuing the objectives of the Crédit Agricole’s medium-term plan, in which CA Auto Bank plays a highly significant role,” he said.

Priami added: “Today, CA Auto Bank has established itself as a leading, independent, and pan-European player, which together with Drivalia represents a unique integrated ecosystem for sustainable mobility.”
