AFP launches new training platform for fleet professionals

The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) has introduced a new digital learning platform, providing members with a single point of access for training, education and professional development.

The LearnUpon platform will enable fleet professionals to book courses, access learning materials and track their qualifications and achievements in one place, simplifying the management of ongoing training.

The system, which is used by 30 million people across 1,700 organisations, also incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) tools designed to accelerate the development of new training content.

According to the AFP, the technology could enable new courses to be created in days rather than weeks or months, allowing the organisation to respond more quickly to emerging industry challenges and regulatory developments.

Ronnie Gillman, Training Manager at the AFP, said:

“We will remain very much the architects of the learning being written and presented to members but the platform will enable us to develop new content much more rapidly and with greater flexibility.

“Especially, we see this as a means to react quickly to developing issues, perhaps delivering a bite-sized course over a lunch hour to tackle a new tax or legislative change just a few days after it has been announced.

“In an industry such as ours, characterised by a fast-moving and sometimes unpredictable set of challenges, this has definite value for our membership.”

The investment forms part of the AFP’s wider strategy to improve access to training and support the professional development of fleet managers.

Gillman said demand for training continues to increase, with members seeking opportunities to develop new skills and broaden their knowledge across a growing range of fleet management topics.

“Year on year, the popularity of our courses increases alongside requests to cover a wider range of subjects, so we know there is a growing appetite for training and that fleet managers are looking to continuously upskill.”

Through the new platform, members will be able to browse and reserve places on AFP Fleet Academy courses, access relevant learning resources and monitor their progress.

LearnUpon will also allow users to record external training and qualifications, including continuing professional development (CPD) credits earned through industry-related learning activities.

Gillman added: “Members can record all of their industry-relevant training and qualifications so any time they want to present their credentials, everything can be found in one place.”
