Innovation Sponsored by Innovation Alfa unveils ‘Data Guardian’ to enhance Alfa Cloud data resilience Published: 1st September 2025 Share Alfa, the developer of Alfa Systems, has announced the launch of Data Guardian, a new data protection and resilience feature within its Alfa Cloud platform, which delivers Alfa Systems as a SaaS solution via the AWS public cloud. Data Guardian introduces a multi-layered approach to safeguarding client data and ensuring business continuity. It combines dedicated isolated networking with multi-region and multi-provider backups, aiming to set new standards for single-tenant SaaS resilience and regulatory compliance. The technology employs a so-called “triple shield” strategy, which includes: Primary region isolated vault: Immutable nightly backups stored in a dedicated vault within the primary cloud region. Secondary region isolated vault: Geo-redundant backups to safeguard against regional disruptions. Isolated second cloud platform: Backups stored on a separate cloud provider to mitigate risks from catastrophic, vendor-specific failures. Alex Barnes, Alfa’s Director of Cloud Hosting, said the approach addresses growing regulatory demands for robust data governance and disaster recovery. “Data Guardian isn’t just about ‘backup’; it’s about eliminating downtime and ensuring data availability, in even the most extreme scenarios,” Barnes said. For auto and equipment finance operators, the system promises minimal recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO), aiming to reduce operational disruption during outages. Several existing Alfa Cloud customers are already using the technology. Matthew Colville-Foley, Head of Change Delivery at Novuna Business Finance, said Data Guardian’s security measures provide “complete confidence in the integrity and confidentiality” of sensitive information, aligning with FCA compliance requirements. Alfa has recently published Alfa Cloud: Architecting Value, a technical deep dive into the Alfa Cloud platform, which outlines the platform’s architecture, explores the values-based approach, and presents optional features. Setting new standards in cloud data resilience, an insights piece by Alex Barnes, further discusses ensuring availability in a worst-case scenario.
