Metro Bank has agreed a £3.3 million finance package to support the next phase of expansion at Branston Golf & Country Club in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire.

The funding will enable the long-established leisure and hospitality business to press ahead with a series of planned development projects designed to enhance its facilities and elevate the experience for members and guests.

Metro Bank, which supports UK businesses through specialist relationship banking and sector-specific lending expertise, said the deal reflects its continued commitment to backing the growth ambitions of hospitality and leisure operators across the country.

Founded in 1994, Branston Golf & Country Club has grown into one of Staffordshire’s leading leisure destinations, offering a championship golf course, gym, spa facilities, a purpose-built conference and events venue, and most recently, three outdoor floodlit padel tennis courts. The new funding package gives the club additional capacity to pursue further improvements as part of its long-term vision.

The transaction was brokered by Copper Swan, an East Midlands-based finance brokerage specialising in commercial, property and development funding.

Leon Sloyan, Head of Commercial Lending at Metro Bank, said: “We are delighted to provide funding to help drive the next chapter of Branston Golf & Country Club’s continued development.

“The club is an important leisure hub for the local community. Our dedicated relationship management service means we spend time with businesses to understand their needs and we are excited to support their ambitions for future growth.”

Ben Laing, Managing Director at Branston Golf & Country Club, welcomed the investment: “This finance package marks another major milestone for Branston Golf & Country Club, unlocking opportunities to elevate our facilities and create even more memorable experiences for our members and guests. Throughout the process Metro Bank worked closely with us to ensure they fully understood our needs and we’re delighted to be working with them.”

Ben Lavin, Director at Copper Swan, added: “It’s been a pleasure working alongside Metro Bank to support Branston Golf & Country Club in securing this significant £3.3 million finance package.

“This funding ensures they are well positioned to build on momentum. We look forward to seeing the next phase of their expansion take shape.”
