Fleet Finance Sponsored by Fleet Finance News Zenobē and Woolworths launch Australia’s largest electric truck rollout Published: 7th July 2026 Share Zenobē and Woolworths Group have announced Australia’s largest electric truck rollout, with a landmark agreement to lease 148 battery electric trucks in a major boost for the country’s transition to zero-emission freight transport. Supported by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), the deployment is being hailed as a significant milestone for the commercial adoption of electric heavy vehicles and the decarbonisation of Australia’s freight and logistics sector. The new vehicles will support Woolworths’ expanding electric delivery network across Australia. The first trucks entered service in May, with the remainder of the fleet scheduled to be introduced progressively throughout 2026. Zenobē said the agreement demonstrates that large-scale fleet electrification is becoming commercially viable, with innovative financing models helping operators overcome traditional barriers to adoption. Gareth Ridge, Country Director for Australia and New Zealand at Zenobē, said: “This project is evidence that electrification is a commercial opportunity. “Woolworths is already rolling out hundreds of electric trucks at scale, that’s almost unheard of in Australia’s freight sector and proof that with the right business model and competitive pricing from Zenobē, electrification stacks up right now. “Together with Woolworths and the CEFC, we’re proving that large-scale zero-emissions logistics is no longer a pilot, it’s commercially viable and operationally proven.” Sarah Pike, Woolworths Group Director of Last Mile and Partnerships, said the rollout would deliver both environmental and community benefits. “Our home delivery trucks are a familiar sight in suburbs across Australia. These EVs will help keep suburban streets quieter and cleaner, and make the weekly grocery shop greener for Aussie families,” she said. The announcement builds on Zenobē’s growing investment in Australia’s commercial vehicle electrification market, following its recently announced partnership with Winnings and the launch of a US$100 million truck electrification programme. The company also recently opened expressions of interest for its Fleet Electrification Program, targeting medium and large heavy vehicle operators across Australia. Zenobē said the Woolworths deployment highlights growing confidence in electric truck technology as infrastructure, financing solutions and operational expertise continue to mature. The company believes collaborations between fleet operators, financiers and organisations such as the CEFC will play an increasingly important role in accelerating the transition to cleaner and more resilient transport networks across Australia.
