Lloyds Banking Group has announced the appointment of Amanda Murphy as Chief Executive Officer of Business & Commercial Banking (BCB), the division that supports micro, small and medium-sized businesses across the UK as they start up, grow and scale.

The appointment, which is subject to regulatory approval, comes as current BCB CEO Elyn Corfield prepares to step down in 2026 to take a period of family time, following nearly nine years with Lloyds Banking Group. Murphy is expected to join the Group in February 2026.

Murphy joins Lloyds from HSBC, where she most recently served as Co-Head of Commercial Banking Asia and Head of Commercial Banking for South and Southeast Asia, based in Singapore. Prior to that, she held a range of senior leadership roles within HSBC’s UK Commercial and Business Banking operations between 2013 and 2021, including Head of Commercial Banking UK from 2017 to 2021.

Charlie Nunn, Group Chief Executive Officer of Lloyds Banking Group, said Murphy brings deep experience and a strong track record in commercial banking.

“Amanda has an outstanding record in UK commercial and business banking and I will be delighted to welcome her to the team,” he said. “Further growing our small and medium-sized business offering for customers is at the heart of our Helping Britain Prosper strategy.”

Nunn also paid tribute to Corfield’s leadership, highlighting her role in transforming the Business & Commercial Banking division and strengthening support for UK businesses.

“In her most recent role, she has led the way in comprehensively transforming our business to better serve our small and medium-sized business clients,” he said. “She has also contributed passionately to some of the UK’s biggest business challenges, including regional regeneration and diverse entrepreneurship.”

Corfield joined Lloyds Banking Group following its acquisition of MBNA in 2017, marking a 25-year career across both organisations. She said stepping away was a personal decision after a long and rewarding period in the industry.

“Supporting this segment of the UK business community has been a true honour, but the time has come for me to step away to take a period of family time,” she said. “In Amanda, we have found an outstanding leader who will be joining a great team with exciting plans for the future.”
