Close Brothers funds construction of Steeraway Solar Farm

UK-based independent power producer Enviromena has secured construction finance from Close Brothers’ Energy team to deliver a new 30MW solar farm in Shropshire, marking the latest collaboration between the two organisations.

The Steeraway Solar Farm, now fully financed for construction, is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power more than 15,000 homes once operational. The project is also set to cut around 8,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, supporting the UK’s wider transition to low-carbon energy sources.

Beyond its power output, the development includes a range of environmental measures designed to enhance the surrounding landscape. Plans incorporate biodiversity improvements, sensitive planting schemes and the continuation of agricultural grazing to ensure the site remains well integrated with the local countryside.
