Technology FIS expands AI partnership with Anthropic Published: 24th July 2026 Share FIS has expanded its relationship with Anthropic by joining Project Glasswing, a controlled-access initiative that uses frontier artificial intelligence to identify and address security vulnerabilities in critical software infrastructure. The financial technology provider is using Mythos 5, Anthropic’s most advanced AI model, to scan and evaluate its own systems as part of the initiative, reinforcing its focus on proactive cybersecurity across the financial services sector. FIS, which operates systems that clear payments, move money and power core banking platforms for thousands of financial institutions globally, said protecting its software infrastructure is critical to maintaining the resilience and stability of the financial system. Through Project Glasswing, the company is deploying Mythos 5 as an additional layer within its existing security programme. The initiative brings together organisations responsible for developing and maintaining critical software infrastructure, enabling participants to use Anthropic’s advanced AI models to support defensive cybersecurity activities. FIS said its participation in Project Glasswing is separate from its commercial AI partnership with Anthropic, under which the companies are deploying AI agents for business applications. Instead, the programme reflects the company’s continued investment in using advanced AI to strengthen security, reliability and trust across financial technology systems. Alongside the initiative, FIS continues to shape its cybersecurity strategy through collaboration with industry bodies including the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) and the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC), as well as ongoing engagement with regulators and intelligence-sharing across the financial services industry. By combining advanced AI capabilities with established security practices, FIS aims to enhance its ability to identify vulnerabilities before they can be exploited, supporting both its own infrastructure and the wider financial services ecosystem. The latest collaboration highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, as financial institutions increasingly deploy frontier AI models to strengthen resilience against evolving cyber threats while maintaining the high levels of security and reliability required for critical financial infrastructure.
