Auto Finance Sponsored by Auto Finance News TRATON Group Q2 vehicle sales rise 4% as electric sales surge Published: 17th July 2026 Share The TRATON Group increased vehicle unit sales by 4% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, supported by growth across most of its brands and continued strong momentum in all-electric vehicle deliveries. Based on preliminary figures, the commercial vehicle manufacturer sold 82,900 vehicles during the quarter, up from 80,000 in the same period last year. The result also represented a sequential improvement from the first quarter of 2026, when unit sales totalled 68,600 vehicles. For the first half of the year, TRATON delivered 151,500 vehicles, just 1% below the 153,100 units recorded in the corresponding period of 2025. Electric vehicle sales continued to outpace overall market growth. TRATON delivered 1,050 all-electric vehicles in the second quarter, a 67% increase from the prior year, while first-half electric deliveries rose 53% to 1,910 units. Scania Vehicles & Services recorded the strongest performance among TRATON’s largest brands, increasing second-quarter sales by 7% to 26,300 vehicles. The company said growth was driven by the launch of its NEXT ERA product line in China and Brazil’s government-backed “Move Brasil” incentive programme. First-half sales rose 1% to 47,300 vehicles. MAN Truck & Bus reported a 3% increase in second-quarter deliveries to 27,300 vehicles despite weaker conditions in its key German market. First-half unit sales climbed 8% year-on-year to 50,900 vehicles. International Motors remained under pressure but showed signs of improvement, with second-quarter sales falling 8% to 16,200 vehicles, a smaller decline than in the first quarter. The business said improving customer demand in the US market is expected to become more evident during the second half of the year. First-half sales declined 15% to 29,500 vehicles. Volkswagen Truck & Bus posted the strongest percentage increase among the group’s brands, with second-quarter sales rising 15% to 13,100 vehicles, also benefiting from Brazil’s “Move Brasil” incentive programme. However, first-half deliveries remained 4% below last year’s level at 23,800 vehicles due to a weaker opening quarter. Electric vehicle deliveries increased across all four brands. Scania more than doubled its second-quarter electric sales to 270 units, while International Motors recorded a 127% increase to 210 units. MAN delivered 560 electric vehicles during the quarter, up 30% year-on-year, while Volkswagen Truck & Bus sold 20 electric vehicles compared with none in the same period last year. TRATON will publish its full half-year financial results on 23 July 2026.
