Technology Liquid Fleet to optimise residual values with Volteras technology Published: 2nd January 2026 Share Liquid Fleet has partnered with connected vehicle data specialist Volteras in a strategic move aimed at improving fleet efficiency, protecting residual values and reducing de-hire costs across its rental operations. Under the agreement, Liquid Fleet has begun onboarding Volteras’ connected vehicle platform, which captures real-time odometer readings and vehicle location data and consolidates the information into a single online portal. Unlike traditional telematics solutions, the system requires no additional hardware, instead integrating directly with vehicles’ manufacturer-installed technology. Volteras currently works with 30 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and plans to expand its network to 35 by the first quarter of 2026. Liquid Fleet expects to deploy the platform across the majority of its 3,000-vehicle fleet by the same date. Liquid Fleet believes the technology will play a key role in protecting manufacturer warranties and, in turn, improving vehicle residual values. Continuous visibility of mileage and location data allows the company to proactively manage servicing schedules, reducing the likelihood of missed services and the end-of-contract charges that can erode resale prices. The data also enables deeper analysis of vehicle usage patterns, helping customers identify which vehicles may be suitable candidates for electrification as part of wider fleet transition strategies. Vehicle onboarding and removal are designed to be straightforward, requiring only the vehicle identification number (VIN) to be entered into the Volteras portal. James Miller, sales and marketing director at Liquid Fleet, said the partnership provides crucial insight into real-world vehicle use. “Our partnership with Volteras provides invaluable insight into how vehicles are driven and the types of journeys they are making,” he said. “This allows Liquid Fleet to offer a genuinely consultative service, helping clients understand how and when to transition vehicles into electric. “Having access to real-time mileage and location data means we can proactively contact customers to remind them when a service is due, rather than risk paying for missed servicing at the end of a contract.” Miller added that presenting vehicles for sale with a full service history and a valid manufacturer warranty “automatically optimises residual values”, delivering savings worth “hundreds of thousands of pounds every year”. Liquid Fleet also works with Fleet Assist to coordinate proactive servicing, maintenance and repair (SMR) on behalf of customers, centralising vehicle care and reducing the administrative burden on businesses. Two Liquid Fleet customers have already signed up to access real-time data for their rental vehicles via the Volteras portal, giving them greater visibility and control over fleet performance. Chris Heddle, head of sales and partnerships at Volteras, said the platform’s strength lies in its direct OEM integrations. “We have built partnerships with a wide range of OEM brands to access vehicle data through authorised application programming interfaces,” he said. “These integrations are only possible through official OEM collaborations, with data transferred via secure, designated channels.” He added that this approach delivers faster, more stable data access and a broader range of data points, while eliminating the need for aftermarket hardware.
