The strengthened alliance will focus on enabling organisations to move more rapidly from concept to execution by placing AI-powered agents into the hands of employees across all roles. By leveraging natural language capabilities, users can design, build and manage digital solutions faster, transforming how work is performed across industries. Initially deployed within software engineering teams, Codex has since been rolled out more broadly across CGI’s global workforce. Today, tens of thousands of engineers, consultants and experts at CGI are using OpenAI technologies to embed agentic AI into everyday workflows. This includes automating routine tasks, streamlining complex processes and enhancing productivity; helping organisations accelerate innovation and deliver outcomes more efficiently. The partnership is already supporting clients across government, public safety and commercial sectors worldwide, reflecting the wide-ranging impact AI is expected to have on organisational transformation. The collaboration combines OpenAI’s cutting-edge research and product development with CGI’s deep industry expertise and experience delivering large-scale, mission-critical technology solutions. Denise Dresser, chief revenue officer at OpenAI, said the partnership will help organisations scale their use of AI more effectively: “Codex is becoming a powerful workspace for managing agents across software development and business workflows. As enterprises move quickly to put Codex to work, we’re working with leading partners like CGI to help organisations move from early usage to repeatable deployment.” She added that CGI’s experience in large-scale transformation will support use cases such as legacy system modernisation, automated code review, vulnerability detection and application development. Dave Henderson, chief technology officer at CGI, emphasised that successful AI adoption goes beyond technology alone. “Generating business outcomes from agentic AI isn’t just about tooling or adoption, it’s about engineering, embedding and integrating agents at the core of how work is done and value is created across the organisation,” he said. “Our experience shows that technology alone – no matter how innovative – is rarely the reason that transformation stalls and outcomes go unrealised. Through this expansion of our OpenAI alliance, we will help clients address a key accelerator of enterprise value: the human edge.” As part of the agreement, CGI will scale its global activation initiatives with OpenAI, including innovation programmes, training bootcamps and early access to new Codex capabilities. The companies will also deepen their joint go-to-market strategies to accelerate adoption worldwide.
