The reforms were approved by members at the Association’s Annual General Meeting, where a special resolution was passed to adopt new Articles of Association. The updated Articles are intended to modernise the BVRLA’s governance framework and provide members with a greater role in shaping the organisation’s future direction. Alongside the governance changes, the BVRLA has confirmed several key leadership appointments. Ryan Johnson, Senior Vice President for Enterprise Mobility across the UK and Ireland, has been appointed Vice Chair of the Association. In line with the BVRLA’s established succession process, he will succeed current Chair Lakshmi Moorthy in 2027. The Association has also appointed Matt Rumble, CEO of Kinto UK, as Chair of the Leasing and Fleet Management Committee. The committee plays a key role in shaping the BVRLA’s work on policy, operational standards and member engagement, alongside the Association’s Commercial Vehicle, Rental and Leasing Broker committees. The governance reforms have been designed to ensure the Association remains representative of its membership while enabling faster and more transparent decision-making. The changes are also intended to encourage greater collaboration between members, committees and the Board. Toby Poston, Chief Executive of the BVRLA, said: “These changes mark an important step forward for the Association. Our sector is evolving rapidly and it is essential that the BVRLA’s governance structure evolves with it. “The new framework gives members a stronger voice, improves transparency and ensures we are better equipped to respond to the challenges and opportunities facing fleet, leasing and rental operators.” Ryan Johnson said he was looking forward to helping represent members during a period of significant change for the sector. “The BVRLA plays a critical role in representing the interests of our sector during a period of significant change,” he said. “Our membership is strongest when the rental and leasing sectors work together effectively and I am pleased to take on the role of Vice Chair.” The BVRLA said the revised governance arrangements will help ensure the Association continues to evolve alongside the vehicle rental, leasing and fleet management sectors, while reinforcing its role as the industry’s representative body.
