Arbuthnot Commercial ABL backs acquisition of D&G Builders and Joiners

Arbuthnot Commercial Asset Based Lending has delivered a £3.5 million funding package to support the acquisition of D&G Builders and Joiners Ltd by Birch Faraday Capital, marking the investment firm’s third addition to its growing portfolio of B2B service providers.

The deal sees D&G, a well-established family-run commercial fit-out specialist, acquired from its current owners, who took over the business from their parents in 2021. Both will remain as part of the senior management team. Arbuthnot’s facility, completed in just four weeks, also provides substantial working capital to fuel the next phase of expansion.

Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Chorley, Lancashire, D&G was established by Damien Ormerod and his father-in-law George Pearson. The pair – both former local authority employees – grew the company into a recognised Principal Contractor across the North West. Today, D&G delivers high-quality projects of up to £8 million across the healthcare, education, commercial and maintenance sectors, specialising in fit-out, joinery and maintenance services.

Darnell Irozuru, Managing Director at Birch Faraday Capital, said: “We chose Arbuthnot Commercial ABL to support the deal due to their flexibility in delivering a tailored solution under tight deadlines. Arbuthnot was the natural choice to partner with on this transaction, due to their pragmatism and ‘can do’ attitude, which will benefit the wider Birch Faraday Capital group in future acquisitions and growth plans.

“There was already a strong rapport built with the team at Arbuthnot, having known Joe Taviner for a number of years, but having direct access to their leadership team allowed for open conversations and direct solutions. We very much look forward to working with Arbuthnot on future transactions. We see them as a long-term partner for our continued ambition.”

Andrew Rutherford, Commercial Director at Arbuthnot Commercial ABL, added: “Supporting Birch Faraday on this important acquisition reflects our commitment to delivering fast, effective solutions.

“Completing the deal from start to finish in just four weeks is business as usual for us. The new facility provides excellent headroom for growth, and we’re excited to support the next stage of success for D&G.”
