Zenith supports NG Bailey’s electric van transition with new trial fleet

Fleet management and leasing provider Zenith has supported engineering and infrastructure services company NG Bailey in introducing a trial fleet of electric light commercial vehicles (eLCVs), marking a further step in the company’s fleet electrification strategy.

The project has seen 10 fully electric Ford vans added to NG Bailey’s commercial vehicle fleet of more than 600 vehicles, allowing the business to assess how electric vans can support its operational requirements.

The trial includes three Ford models – the E-Transit Courier, E-Transit Custom and E-Transit – providing an opportunity to evaluate different vehicle sizes and capabilities across a range of business activities.

The initiative forms part of NG Bailey’s wider sustainability ambitions, with Zenith working alongside the company to identify where electric vehicles could be integrated into its commercial fleet.

As part of the project, Zenith is analysing how NG Bailey’s vehicles are used across the business and developing a vehicle specification catalogue tailored to its operational needs.

This includes assessing vehicle size, usage patterns and internal fit-out requirements to determine which roles could be suitable for electric vans.

Zenith has also coordinated a number of specialist partners to deliver the trial fleet.

Working with Ford, NG Bailey’s preferred van manufacturer, the project includes vehicle branding developed by Mediafleet to reflect the company’s refreshed brand identity and commitment to electrification.

Each van has also received a bespoke internal fit-out from The Van Hub, designed around the specific tasks and operational requirements of its intended role.

Ryan Long, Head of LCV at Zenith, said the transition to electric commercial vehicles requires careful consideration of how vehicles are used in practice.

“Electrification isn’t simply about putting electric vans on a fleet. It’s about understanding where they can work, building driver confidence, and making sure the right vehicles are matched to the right jobs.

“As the UK’s most customer-focused fleet partner, our role is to work closely with customers like NG Bailey and bring together the right expertise to make that transition work in practice.

“This project is a great example of how we’re keeping our customers moving sustainably, while helping NG Bailey take another important step on its electrification journey.”

The trial will provide NG Bailey with operational experience of electric vans across different applications, helping inform future vehicle selection and fleet electrification decisions.

For Zenith, the project demonstrates the role of tailored fleet management, vehicle specification and supplier collaboration in helping businesses assess the practical transition from diesel to electric commercial vehicles.
