Finance Connect launches Advances: The Receivables Finance Connect Podcast with a conversation between host Mike Symes and Edward Peck, previewing the questions shaping November’s conference.

What will it take to unlock the next wave of growth in receivables finance and asset-based lending?

That is the question behind Advances, a new Finance Connect podcast hosted by Mike Symes, Community Leader at Receivables Finance Connect. Bringing together people shaping the industry, the series will explore product innovation, customer experience, technology, intermediaries and the perspectives of the next generation.

In the opening episode, Mike Symes speaks to Edward Peck, CEO and founder of Finance Connect, ahead of the Finance Connect UK Autumn Conference on Tuesday 24 November 2026 at Kings Place, London. The Receivables Finance Connect stream, headline sponsored by Dancerace, will tackle a clear challenge: Where’s the growth?

Host Mike Symes says: “The podcast is a great taste of what’s to come, and we’re really looking forward to bringing everyone together in London for a day of fresh thinking, shared ideas and thought-provoking conversations that will help shape the future of the industry.”

Growing the market

Peck argues that competition from loans should prompt receivables lenders to examine how easily customers can access their products. Speed and simplicity can influence a business’s choice of finance, even where another product might better meet its working capital needs.

The opportunity, he suggests, lies in reaching more businesses through better products, customer journeys and partnerships.

“How can we create a larger market which contains loans, assets, receivables together, which combined as a toolbox can serve customers better?” he asks.

The conference will explore that opportunity through industry debate and practical sessions, including a study of the total addressable and serviceable addressable markets for receivables finance, also sponsored by Dancerace.

For Edward Peck, understanding the market’s potential is essential to making informed investment decisions.

“It’s the single fact that underpins the allocation of resources to receivables in the future,” he says.

Turning ideas into growth

Technology will be central to the discussion, from specialist solutions that improve existing lending platforms to AI’s potential to transform customer interactions.

“It’s not really just about how the lending organisation uses AI,” Peck says. “It’s also about how the customer will use AI to ease their journey with the lenders.”

The programme will also examine how intermediaries understand and communicate the value of receivables finance. A live messaging lab will explore ideas for raising awareness, alongside wider questions about the ease and commercial appeal of introducing business.

Meanwhile, the NextGen discussion, led by Ted Winterton, will draw on careers research undertaken with the Leasing Foundation and hear directly from younger professionals.

“It’s absolutely vital that we listen to the people who are coming into the industry,” Peck says.

Across these discussions, the aim is to create a “marketplace of ideas” where delegates can share experience and develop partnerships that help expand the industry.
