The Leasing Foundation launches industry charity netball tournament

Share

The Leasing Foundation has unveiled plans for a new industry-wide sporting event, with the launch of The Leasing Foundation Cup, a mixed netball tournament set to take place in London this spring.

Scheduled for 14 May 2026 at Powerleague Waterloo, the tournament aims to bring together professionals from across the asset finance sector in an inclusive and engaging format, while raising more than £10,000 for its charity partner, Coach Core Foundation.

The 7-a-side mixed competition will allow a maximum of three men on court at any one time, encouraging broader participation and diversity across teams. Organisers say the format has been designed to combine light-hearted competition with meaningful fundraising and networking opportunities.

A standout feature of the event will be the involvement of Eboni Usoro-Brown, a 117-cap England international, Commonwealth Games gold medallist and current president of England Netball. As an ambassador for Coach Core Foundation, Usoro-Brown will be supporting the tournament and engaging with participants throughout the day.

Teams will also have the chance to strengthen their squads through a series of fundraising initiatives during the group stages. These include opportunities to bid for Usoro-Brown to play or coach, as well as bringing in county-level players to boost performance – all while contributing additional funds to the charity.

Beyond the on-court action, the event will feature a “shoot the hoop” competition and post-event drinks, offering further opportunities for networking and industry connection.

James Lovett, co-lead of the Leasing Foundation Giving Channel, said the initiative is designed to unite the sector in a fresh and inclusive way.

“This is about bringing the industry together in a different way,” he said. “We wanted to create something that feels inclusive, a bit competitive and, most importantly, fun. If we can do that while raising meaningful funds for Coach Core Foundation and supporting the work they do with young people, then that’s a great outcome. It’s also incredible that Eboni is going to be part of this initiative.”

Teams can enter at a cost of £650 plus VAT, with sponsorship options available for organisations unable to field a full squad.

Funds raised from the event will support Coach Core Foundation’s work using sport and apprenticeships to help young people facing barriers gain access to training, employment and long-term opportunities.
