Startline Motor Finance makes four senior appointments

Startline Motor Finance has made four senior appointments across its technology, servicing, originations and analytics functions.

The appointments, which combine internal promotions with external recruitment, see Paul Clark become Head of IT and Digital, Gary Slavin named Head of Servicing, Colin Campbell appointed Head of Originations and Gavin MacKay become Head of Analytics.

Paul Clark joins Startline from Peter Vardy Global, where he was IT Director and Chief Technology Officer, and has previously held senior positions at Skyscanner and Northern Marine Group.

In his new role, he will be responsible for shaping and delivering Startline’s technology strategy, ensuring its platforms, infrastructure and services are secure, resilient and aligned with the company’s growth plans.

Gary Slavin, who joined Startline in 2025 following previous roles at Fortis Lease, EE and Santander, will lead the teams responsible for customer support, collections, recoveries, asset management and specialist support.

Colin Campbell has been promoted to Head of Originations, overseeing new business activities and underwriting, including service delivery, introducer and customer experience, and operational efficiency.

He joined Startline from Fortis Lease in 2013 and has since held a number of senior positions within the motor finance provider.

Gavin MacKay, who joined Startline six years ago following roles at Cumberland Building Society and Creditsafe, will lead the company’s data, analytics and modelling activity across the customer lifecycle.

His responsibilities include credit strategy, scorecard development, portfolio monitoring, regulatory reporting and insight.

Founded in 2013 and headquartered at Skypark in Glasgow, Startline specialises in near-prime motor finance.

The lender currently has 85,000 customers, £652 million of assets under management and employs 240 people.

Startline works with around half of the UK’s top 50 franchise motor dealers by turnover and 70% of the top 50 independent car retailers, and accounts for around 2% of the UK motor finance market.
