Shawbrook has provided an £11 million Asset Based Lending (ABL) facility to Shawston Group, supporting the specialist distributor’s next phase of growth while refinancing its existing funding arrangements.

The funding package combines receivables and inventory finance with a cashflow loan, providing Shawston with additional liquidity to support its expansion plans and future investment.

Headquartered in Greater Manchester, Shawston Group is one of the UK’s leading specialist distributors serving the fire protection and mechanical building services sectors. Established in the 1970s as a regional pipe fabrication business, the company has grown into a national distributor operating from five locations across the UK.

Today, the business employs more than 150 people and supplies customers across regulated fire protection, mechanical building services, dry and wet risers, residential fire protection and specialist fabrication markets.

Tom Rigby, Managing Director of Shawston Group, said the business was seeking a funding partner that understood both its market and long-term ambitions.

“Finding a funding partner that understood both our business model and our ambitions was incredibly important to us,” he said. “Shawbrook recognised the strengths of our business, our market position and the opportunities ahead.

“This facility gives us the flexibility and funding capacity to continue growing while maintaining the service levels our customers rely on.”

Jeremy Bolton, Director of Asset Based Lending at Shawbrook, said Shawston’s strong market position and growth potential made it an attractive business to support.

“Shawston is a high-quality business operating in specialist markets, supported by strong customer relationships, national coverage and regulatory-driven demand,” he said.

“The management team has built an impressive platform, and we are delighted to support the next stage of their growth journey with a flexible funding package tailored to their requirements.”
