Finance Connect launches new Asset Insights Podcast

Share

First episode features Richard Cameron of Close Brothers Broker Solutions

Finance Connect will be launching a new Asset Insights Podcast, hosted by Edward Peck, in the New Year to explore the forces shaping the UK’s asset finance market.

Designed as a platform for constructive industry dialogue, the series will examine the trends, pressures and opportunities facing lenders, brokers and the wider ecosystem.

Before the formal launch, we recorded a teaser episode to set the tone for the conversations ahead – and who better to join that first discussion than Richard Cameron, CEO of Close Brothers Broker Solutions.

Richard’s appointment earlier this year comes at a pivotal time for brokers and lenders. In October, he hosted a major broker conference at St. George’s Park – the home of England’s national football teams – reaffirming Close Brothers’ commitment to the broker model and outlining its strategy for the road ahead. It was that event, and its message of continuity, that gave us our first topic: why is a major funder increasing its investment in brokers when others appear to be stepping away?

In this first episode Richard offers insight into why Close Brothers is deepening its commitment to the broker channel, how technology and AI are reshaping customer experience, and what the shift from transactional to relationship-led broking means for the market.

Looking ahead

This opening conversation captures the purpose of our new podcast: to examine the market with clarity, challenge assumptions and provide a platform for discussion.

The Asset Insights Podcast by Finance Connect is intended to spark thoughtful discussion about where our industry is headed. Over the coming months the podcast series will explore:

  • The strategic pressures facing asset finance
  • Whether routes to SME finance remain fit for purpose
  • How technology is transforming underwriting and customer experience
  • How the sector strengthens trust, talent and public engagement

We will bring together voices from across the industry – senior lenders, broker groups, trade associations, professional communities and policymakers – including contributors from organisations such as the Finance & Leasing Association, BVRLA, NACFB, the Leasing Foundation, and the Guild of Business Finance Professionals.
