eCapital Corp., the tech-enabled specialty finance provider serving businesses across North America and the UK, has appointed Richard Tong as Chief Legal Officer.

Tong will join eCapital’s senior leadership group and report directly to Chief Executive Officer Marius Silvasan. In the role, he will oversee the company’s global legal operations and support its long-term strategic growth initiatives.

The appointment comes as eCapital continues to scale its business across multiple markets, with the company highlighting the importance of experienced legal leadership in navigating governance, regulatory compliance and corporate transactions.

Tong brings more than 20 years of senior legal experience advising public companies and multinational organisations on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory matters and enterprise risk management.

Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel at NV5 Global, Inc., where he led the company’s legal organisation for more than 16 years. During his tenure, NV5 underwent significant expansion, including acquisition-led growth and strategic transformation initiatives. Tong also played a key role in the company’s merger with Acuren in a transaction valued at approximately $1.7 billion.

Earlier in his career, Tong held senior legal positions at Bureau Veritas and other multinational firms, building expertise across complex transactions, compliance and governance frameworks.

Marius Silvasan, CEO of eCapital Corp., said Tong’s experience would be instrumental as the business enters its next phase of growth.

“As eCapital continues to scale, strong legal leadership is essential to supporting our growth, governance, and long-term strategic priorities,” said Silvasan.

“Richard brings deep public-company experience, sound judgment, and a strong track record leading through complex transactions and evolving regulatory environments. He is an important addition to our leadership team as we continue building the company for its next phase.”

Tong will work alongside Todd Zarin, who remains with eCapital as General Counsel. Together, the pair will support the company’s legal framework, governance structure and strategic initiatives as the organisation continues to expand its market presence.

Commenting on his appointment, Tong said he was looking forward to supporting eCapital’s continued growth trajectory.

“eCapital is operating from a position of strength, with a differentiated market position and a clear path forward,” he said.

“I’m excited to join the organization and work alongside the leadership team as the company continues to build for the future.”
