Conister Bank loan book reaches £410m in strong first half

Share

Conister Bank grew its net loan book to £410.3 million during the first half of 2026, contributing to a positive six months for parent company Manx Financial Group (MFG).

The Isle of Man-based bank also reported customer deposits of £440.8 million at the end of June, providing a stable funding base for continued lending across the Isle of Man and UK.

The figures, published as part of MFG’s interim results for the six months to 30 June 2026, reflected continued demand across several of Conister’s core lending activities, including unsecured personal lending, block discounting and specialist finance.

Conister said it maintained a prudent approach to underwriting and risk management during the period despite continued economic pressures facing consumers and businesses. Arrears and impairment trends remained within the Board’s expectations.

The bank’s £440.8 million deposit base also enabled it to maintain a substantial liquidity surplus and strong capital position while continuing to provide finance to individuals and businesses.

Douglas Grant, Managing Director of Conister Bank and Group CEO, said:

“At Conister, our focus is always on helping customers access the finance they need while maintaining the prudent approach to lending that has underpinned the Bank for many years.

“The growth we have achieved during the first half of 2026 reflects the trust our customers place in us, the dedication of our colleagues and the continued demand for flexible finance solutions across both the Isle of Man and the UK.

“Reaching a net loan book of £410.3 million is an important milestone, but what matters most is the positive impact we can have by supporting individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses as they pursue their goals.”

Looking ahead, Conister said it will continue to develop its personal and business finance offering while exploring further opportunities in specialist finance.
