BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK expands Chery partnership

BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK is strengthening its ties with Chery International as the Chinese automaker prepares to launch its TIGGO 7 and TIGGO 8 models in Britain this September.

The move builds on the existing partnership that introduced Chery’s OMODA and JAECOO brands to the UK market in July 2024. Since then, more than a third of new sales across those two brands have been financed through BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK.

The new agreement will see the arrival of the five- and seven-seat TIGGO 7 and TIGGO 8, offered with petrol and hybrid powertrains. Initially available through 25 dealerships nationwide, Chery UK hopes to expand to more than 100 outlets within the next 12 months.

Through BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK, both consumers and dealers will have access to tailored finance solutions, while Arval UK will continue to provide fleet and contract management services. This “one-bank approach” aims to give Chery a seamless platform for its UK rollout, spanning individual buyers and corporate fleets.

Chery International, China’s largest vehicle exporter for 23 consecutive years, is seeking to replicate its global momentum in the UK. The brand expects strong demand for its new family-focused models, which join a rapidly growing Chinese automotive presence in Europe.

Stephen Hunt, CEO of BNP Paribas Personal Finance UK, described the announcement as a key step in the group’s growth strategy:

“We have big ambitions for the motor finance division of our business, and I’m delighted that we are building on the successful partnership we have created with Chery UK. The expansion of this partnership reflects our team’s dedication to delivering results for our partnerships and driving innovation in the solutions we provide.”

Lakshmi Moorthy, Managing Director of Arval UK, added:

“The expansion in this partnership is further evidence of how the combined capabilities of BNP Paribas Personal Finance and Arval are providing an extensive range of solutions to support manufacturers and customers in the UK and across Europe.”

Farrell Hsu, Country Director of Chery UK, said the company is committed to establishing a strong foothold in Britain:“The launch of the TIGGO 7 and TIGGO 8 models marks another exciting step in Chery’s long-term commitment to the UK. We are confident that our combination of advanced design, hybrid technology and attractive finance solutions will resonate strongly with UK drivers.”
