Commercial Finance eCapital Commercial Finance UK increases funding capacity to £10m Published: 1st September 2026 Share eCapital Commercial Finance UK has increased its funding capacity to support deals of up to £10 million as it looks to expand its reach among mid-market businesses. The higher funding ceiling is available immediately to new and existing clients and is aimed at businesses requiring larger facilities to support their growth plans. eCapital said the expansion was designed to address demand from companies whose funding requirements may have outgrown their existing providers but which can struggle to access finance through mainstream banks. The company stressed that the move represents a broadening of its existing proposition rather than a change in strategy. Smaller and mid-sized businesses will remain a core market, with 60% of eCapital’s current client base holding facilities of up to £500,000. The increased capacity forms part of eCapital’s wider UK growth strategy and follows investment in its senior leadership team. John Nelson was recently appointed Managing Director, UK, with responsibility for leading the business as it expands its offering and client base, while Camillia Woodrow joined as Head of HR to lead its people strategy. John Nelson, Managing Director of eCapital Commercial Finance UK, said: “We can no longer deny the opportunity for larger clients to work with us and enjoy our market-leading service. This isn’t about becoming a different kind of funder – it’s about doing what we already do well and reaching a little further. “Our commitment to the smaller and mid-sized businesses that make up the majority of our client base is unchanged. What’s changing is that we’re now able to say yes to bigger ambitions too, and support them with the same speed, flexibility and service our clients have always relied on.” The expansion comes against a challenging funding environment for UK SMEs. eCapital cited April 2026 research from the Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology indicating that fewer than half of SME loan applications are successful and that confidence in securing finance from mainstream lenders has declined.
