Fleet Alliance’s Darren Stevens braves charity head shave for MS

Fleet Alliance’s Darren Stevens has undergone a dramatic charity head shave to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), smashing his £10,000 fundraising target before the clippers even came out.

Darren Stevens, Head of Salary Sacrifice at Glasgow-based fleet management and leasing specialist Fleet Alliance, part of the Global Vehicle Group, took on the challenge in support of his father, well-known Scottish radio personality Tiger Tim, who was diagnosed with MS in 1987.

Fleet Alliance Executive Chairman Martin Brown took on barber duties for the event, with celebrity barber Ex the Barber on hand to ensure the head shave went smoothly.

Brown said: “I’m more Barber of Seville than John Frieda, but I was delighted to help Darren raise the money for his preferred charity, which as we all know is an extremely worthy cause.”

Stevens had originally set a fundraising target of £10,000 but had already exceeded it by 107% before the event took place.

Funds raised will support Revive MS Support and the MS Society, helping people affected by MS and their families.

Stevens said: “My Dad, aka Tiger Tim in his radio days, was diagnosed with MS back in 1987 and has been battling this disease for nearly 40 years.

“My goal isn’t just to raise money, but also to help widen awareness and understanding of MS, and the very real impact it has on individuals and families.”

The latest fundraising effort takes the total raised by Fleet Alliance and its staff for charitable causes since the company’s inception to £960,000 – and counting.

Donations can still be made through Darren Stevens’ JustGiving fundraising page.
