The Bedford-based business will use the additional working capital to take on larger contracts, invest in technology and recruit additional staff as it expands its work with NHS trusts and other healthcare providers across the UK. RM Medics operates 24 hours a day, connecting a network of hundreds of locum doctors and other healthcare professionals with NHS trusts, hospitals and private healthcare providers to help address staffing shortages. The company also provides complete clinical teams that can be deployed within two to four weeks to run additional services during weekends and bank holidays. These cover areas including surgery, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy and outpatient care, enabling NHS trusts to increase capacity using their existing facilities. The funding comes as NHS providers continue to face pressure to reduce treatment backlogs. Around 7.27 million patients were waiting for treatment in England in July 2026, according to NHS England, despite the health service treating more patients within 18 weeks than at any point in almost five years. RM Medics is currently bidding for several new NHS clinical insourcing contracts. The Praetura facility will provide additional working capital as the company pursues these opportunities and diversifies its activities across the UK healthcare sector. The funding will also support a recruitment drive, including strategic internal appointments, alongside investment in technology intended to improve project delivery and expand the company’s network of healthcare professionals and clients. Mohammad Mohson, Director at RM Medics, said: “NHS teams are under sustained pressure to meet demand and reduce waiting lists, but adding capacity cannot come at the expense of quality or continuity of care. Our role is to make it easier for trusts to bring in experienced clinical teams quickly and integrate them with the services already in place. “Praetura’s support gives us the financial flexibility to pursue new clinical insourcing opportunities and continue supporting NHS and private healthcare providers across the UK.” Jeff Greenfield, Sales Director at Praetura, added: “We’re proud to support RM Medics as it plays an important role in helping healthcare providers respond to staffing pressures and ensure they have the right clinical expertise when they need it. “The strength of its pipeline shows the demand for its services. We’re pleased to provide a facility that gives the business the funding it needs to pursue new NHS contracts and support the next stage of its growth.” The transaction was introduced by Ian Mabbutt, Partner at EMW LLP.
