Using technology to win the battle for superiority in originations

The Asset Finance Connect/Finativ Technology and Innovation Plenary

The theory is clear: there is a faster ROI in asset finance tech in the front end – broker/dealer and customer proposal journeys – and not in endless back-office upgrades.

  • Multiple lenders are promoting their digital initiatives in the originations’ domain – Haydock, Paragon, UTB, Cambridge & Counties, Propel, etc.
  • When asked to identify the domain with the greatest opportunity for transformation using tech, 72% of TIF technology leaders selected front-office over back-office collections, remarketing, accounting etc. (Survey conducted at September’s Technology & Innovation Forum (TIF))
  • Back-office remains important, but it is NOT transformative, and it is NOT a differentiator.
  • Transformation, even efficiency, is a means and not an end in transformation:  a means to differentiation, to competitive advantage and, in the end, to growth!

A plenary panel of TIF tech leaders who are putting the theory to the test

This TIF plenary session at the AFC UK Autumn Conference features industry leaders who are already re-engineering their origination pipelines. All the funder-participants on the plenary panel come from organisations represented at TIF. These organisations are undertaking digital change initiatives in the originations’ domain. Each is at different stages in digital sophistication and maturity, at different stages in their individual initiatives, and in applying different solutions to often different problem areas. All recognise the importance of, and the benefits to be gained from, focusing attention on originations.

Scope, scale and cost of most originations’ solutions are considerably lower, and the development is faster than “end-to-end” projects.
